Prof. Felix Ngunzo Kioli PhD

Profile Summary
Felix Kioli holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Moi University, Kenya, Master of Arts degree in Anthropology from the University of Nairobi, Kenya and, PhD in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. Kioli was awarded PhD scholarship by the Indian Council for Cultural Studies, graduated in 2010. He taught in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Maseno University from 1999 to 2016, rising from Tutorial Fellow, Assistant Lecturer , Lecturer and Senior Lecturer. He was Chairman, Department of Sociology and Anthropology (4 years), and Dean, School of Arts and Sciences from February 2014 to October 2016 in Maseno University, Kenya, where he was in charge of 11 Departments, 96 Lecturers and Professors and 38 support staff. Kioli is currently employed as an Associate Professor of Sociology at South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU), Kitui. He holds the position of Director, Board of Postgraduate Studies, SEKU.

Kioli has over 40 publications ( Journal Articles, Chapters in Books and Books).He has been a consultant on Research, Gender, Youth, Family, Social Development and Health issues for several organizations .He is a board member of various economic, social, academic and professional organizations. He is also an agent of the Teachers Service Commission, Kenya and Member of Editorial Advisory Board, East African Journal of Social and Applied Sciences. Kioli has been involved in several joint research projects as well as initiated numerous local and international institutional collaborations. He was a visiting Lecturer for one month (September 2014) to 9 Universities of Applied Sciences in Finland, Europe. He was a visiting Professor to Kyambogo University, Uganda from April – July 2018, and Moshi Cooperative University, Tanzania(April-July 2019),courtesy of IUCEA .He has had several research grants including a Gender book project with OSSREA, Ethiopia in 2012-2014, and lead consultant in the development of National Policy on Menstrual Hygiene Management in Kenya,2016 to 2018. He has also consulted for Konrad Adenneur, PASGR, among others on development and research matters.. Kioli has organized, participated and presented research papers in numerous workshops and conferences in Kenya and Internationally. He has successfully supervised over 40 Post graduate students (Masters and PhD). Through him, several Lecturers as well as Undergraduate, Masters and PhD students have won research grants and participated in international teacher and student exchange programmes, respectively, with partnering institutions. He is Internal and External Examiner of various Universities in East Africa. Kioli has also been an adjunct lecturer to numerous Universities in Kenya as well as reviewed academic programs in Sociology, Anthropology, Social Work and Criminology for several Universities in East Africa. He is currently a reviewer of University programmes in the Social Sciences with Commission for University Education, Kenya.
