Full Professor in the Department of Life Sciences, School of Science and Computing at South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU).
Prof. Geoffrey M. Muluvi is a Full Professor in the Department of Life Sciences, School of Science and Computing at South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU). Prof Muluvi holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree (Molecular Genetics), from the University of Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Maastricht University/Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute (ESAMI), Arusha, Tanzania and a Bachelor of Science degree from Moi University, Eldoret, Kenya, among other qualifications.
Prof Muluvi is also the immediate former Vice Chancellor of SEKU (2013-2023). He also served as the Founding Principal of South Eastern University College (SEUCO) (2010-2013), a Constituent College of the University of Nairobi. He was the Chairman of Vice Chancellors committee of Public Universities, Kenya (2019-2023). Prof Muluvi has been a member of the Board of several state corporations such as TARNA Water Services Board (2007-2010), National Museum of Kenya (NMK) from 2006 to 2009, and Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) from 2020 to 2023. Prof Muluvi has also been an Executive Board member of the Inter University Council of East Africa (IUCEA) from 2020 to 2022 and has been a member of the Committee for Staff and Students Mobility of IUCEA. He has also been a member of the East African Science and Technology Commission (EASTCO) Governing Board (2020-2023). Prof Muluvi has also been a Deputy Vice Chancellor (2007-2010), Dean School of Pure and Applied Sciences (2005-2007), Chairman of Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology (2001-2005) at Kenyatta University. Prof Muluvi was Awarded Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (M.B.S) by His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta through Gazette Notice No. 8229 dated 8th July 2022 for distinguished service to the Nation as Vice Chancellor of South Eastern Kenya University and as the Chairperson of the Vice Chancellors Committee of Public Universities. Prof Muluvi has supervised many postgraduate students and published widely in refereed journals and has attended many short courses in many countries spread across the globe.
