  • Oct. 1996 –Nov. 1999. At Moi University Eldoret, I studied for a Master of Philosophy Degree in Linguistics and graduated on 3rd Dec 1999. The Title of Thesis Written was:THE INFLUENCE OF LANGUAGE ECOLOGY AND ATTITUDES TOWARDS ENGLISH ON PERFORMANCE IN ENGLISH:A Comparative study of Secondary School Students in Nairobi and Mombasa Municipalities.
  • 1990-1995. At Moi University Eldoret I pursued a Bachelors degree in Education (B. Ed. in English Language and Literature in English) and graduated with Second Class Honours Upper Division.
  • 1986-1989. In Nkubu High School, Meru I pursued my Secondary Education and sat and passed in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education.
  • 1979-1985. InKwa-Vonza Primary School, Kitui I pursued My Primary Education and successfully passed the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education.

Academic Awards

  • 1996-1998 Awarded a scholarship by Moi University to pursue a Master of Philosophy Degree Programme in Linguistics.
  • 2008 Awarded the 2008 Tanzania Studies Association Graduate Students Stipend to help facilitate my PhD Data collection activity in Kigoma and Rusumo Border Points.
  • 2009 Nominated and selected to attend theData analysis Training for the DfID-funded EdQual Language and Literacy Project in the University of Bristol. UK (see details on www.edqual.org/research/language-literacy).
  • May-August 2017Awarded an Interuniversity Council of East Africa nomination for the EAC Interuniversity Council of East Africa University Academic Staff Mobility Programme and hosted at the St. John’s University of Tanzania as a Senior Lecturer of English, Linguistics and Communication.

Work Experience

I have taught and performed other academic duties for 18 years (2001-) as both Full time and Sessional basis in Universities in Kenya including Moi University, Strathmore, Maseno, Egerton, Kenyatta, Techinical University of Kenya, South Eastern Kenya University and University of Dodoma, Tumaini University Makumira and St. John’s University of Tanzania in Tanzania.

Research experience

  1. 1997 - 1998 I conducted Research in Mombasa and Nairobi on Partial fulfilment of the degree of M.Phil in Linguistics. The Research findings were presented to the School of Graduate Studies, Moi University in the form of a Thesis.
  2. Sept.-Oct. 1998 Isupervised a group of 52 Data Collectors in a PLAN INTERNATIONAL Foster children and community projectsverification exercise.
  3. July27-Aug.31, 1999IWorked as aSupervisor in charge of 17 Enumerators in The1999 Kenya National Population and Housing Census
  4. 2007-2009 I conducted a wide research in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi towards the fulfilment of my PhD degree in Linguistics.
